Fava Beans

Fava beans for healing the soil.

Jug Handle Creek Farm has a community vegetable garden. The Kitchen Garden shares the fenced area with the Native Plant Nursery. The Kitchen Garden, along with our Herb Gardens are all no-spray gardens grown by organic methods.

Harvested Organic Vegetables

Fresh harvested vegetables.

The harvest from both gardens is for garden volunteers and Jug Handle staff and guests. Extra produce goes to the Fort Bragg Food Bank and The Redwood Coast Senior Center.

Jug Handle Farm Community Gardens are also planted for education. All the volunteers learn from one another and guests may visit the gardens. Schools and other groups work and learn in these community gardens.

Volunteers are needed to sustain the garden. Volunteering for a couple hours a week can make a big difference. Work days and times are flexible. For more information about volunteering contact volunteer coordinator Helene Chalfin – see here. Please join us.

Here a variety of seasonal vegetables including lettuce, greens, peas, and green onions and a selection of perennials such as ginger, horse radish, rhubarb and tree collard are grown in raised beds. Crops requiring additional heat are grown in a covered hoop house. Raspberries, currants, gooseberries, and blueberries are raised.
