Because we are a Nature Center first and foremost, we place a high priority on the safety and comfort of the wildlife that calls this special place home. To that note: DOGS/PETS ARE NOT PERMITTED. If you stay with us, you will see an abundance of wildlife attracted to this safe haven.
Farmhouse
Our iconic 1870s Victorian Farmhouse offers 8 bedrooms, large common areas, and two decks overlooking the ocean to the west and a meadow and apple orchard to the east. The Farmhouse sleeps up to 20 guests and is a great place for large families, groups of friends, small wedding parties, and retreats.
Bunkhouse
The Bunkhouse is a modern building with 4 individual guest rooms, as well as the Sea Terrace common area, perfect for groups renting the entire space. Each room sleeps between 4 and 6 guests and has its own designated restroom in a separate building, approximately 15 yards away, as well as access to a shared galley kitchen. Behind the bunkhouse you’ll find two fire rings as well as a “secret” trail down a wooded path that leads under Highway 1 directly to Jug Handle Beach.
The common room, Sea Terrace, can be rented for meetings, classes, workshops, and special events. This building is great for school groups and family gatherings, but also works well for individuals looking for simple, no-frills accommodations on the coast at a reasonable price.
Note: Jug Handle is a Nature Education Center first and foremost and we often host school groups and other events in the Sea Terrace common area. If an event is open to the public, we welcome you to join us!
Cottages
These sweet little cottages sleep two, and are each furnished with a Queen-sized bed. Each includes its own kitchenette, with a mini-fridge, electric two-burner stove, coffee maker, and microwave. Each also has its own private and spacious bathroom, complete with ADA accessible shower. Enjoy your morning coffee or watch the sunset from your westward-facing deck, with a view of the ocean!
Cabins
These simple, rustic little cabins each sleep two, and have electricity but not water. The Grand Fir and Orchard cabins are heated by wood burning stoves and wood is provided. Grand Fir features a Queen size bed and Orchard has a Full/Double size bed. Eucalyptus has an electric heater and a Queen size bed. The three cabins have access to a shared kitchen and bathroom in a separate nearby building. The shared kitchen has an electric stove, refrigerator, microwave, toaster, blender, pots and pans, and cooking equipment. The shared bathroom includes an ADA shower. Linens and towels are provided. The cabins are a great place for a quiet, budget-friendly retreat, and they are the perfect home base for your Mendocino Coast adventures!

Pitch your tent in our private, spacious campground of meadows and forest. Each campsite has parking, a fire ring, at least one picnic table, and a mowed area for your tents. Our campground features one site with an electrical RV hook up (24ft limit) and one group campsite for up to 30 people.
