Join us for a fun and family-friendly presentation about bats and their unique adaptations, important role in our ecosystems, and the myths and mysteries that surround them. Part of our ongoing “Creatures That Spook Us” educational series, this free, open-to-the-public event is a perfect way for curious kids and grown-ups alike to learn more about the creatures that share our world.
Join us and our friends at Northern California Bat Rescue as we get a little spooked, learn something new, and leave with a whole new appreciation for bats!

Guided Bog Walk
Join JDSF Biologist Robert B. Douglas, in partnership with UC Cooperative Extension and Jug Handle Creek Nature Center, to explore the unique plants, insects, and natural history of an ancient bog on the Mendocino coast. While this event is free, advanced registration is required. *Parking details to be shared with registered participants. Participants of all ages are welcomed. This hike is relatively flat with some uneven terrain. Dressing in layers, wearing sturdy shoes, and bringing water and a snack is recommended!

Join Sue Coulter as we step through time on the Ecological Staircase, a 2.5-mile hike where ancient marine terraces rise from the coast into redwood and rare pygmy forests, each level telling a story millions of years in the making.
