Jug Handle Creek Nature Center (JH) is a nonprofit retreat and nature education center located on 33 acres along the Mendocino Coast. We offer affordable lodging and camping for nature lovers, environmental education programs, and event spaces for retreats, school groups, and special gatherings. Our mission is to further environmental stewardship, education, and community engagement. Booking revenue funds our mission. Among meadows and forests, we can accommodate up to 140 guests. Our facilities include a large Victorian farmhouse with seven bedrooms; the adjacent Top of Hill Meeting Room and auxiliary spaces; three rustic cabins; two new cottages; a Bunkhouse with four guestrooms, a shared kitchen, and a large meeting room; eleven campsites with two adjacent bathroom buildings for up to 100 campers; a Native Plant Nursery and other miscellaneous outbuildings.
Job Details
The Guest Host (GH) is a hybrid role that combines guest services, on-call responsibilities, housekeeping, light maintenance, and grounds support. This position plays a critical role in ensuring a welcoming, clean, safe, and well-maintained environment for guests at Jug Handle Creek Nature Center. The role includes a combination of on-site work and on-call coverage during both daytime and evening hours. The GH communicates with guests during on-call hours, supports onsite security and safety, and helps maintain the appearance and functionality of all facilities by performing housekeeping, and light maintenance tasks. This position requires strong teamwork, flexibility, and reliability due to fluctuating guest volumes and the fast-paced turnover of accommodations and shared spaces. The GH reports directly to the Guest Services Coordinator (GSC). All work is performed in accordance with Jug Handle Creek Nature Center policies and protocols
